In 2019 a testing program was identified with the corrosion centre at Curtin University. This testing program will throughout 2020 and onwards investigate the effect of gap width geometry between two steels exposed to CP.
On recovery of the samples from the test structure they will analysed to understand the deposit that has developed in the various size of gaps.
Once understood, the feasibility of potential solution(s) that will remove or mitigate the deposit will be explored, with the most promising solution(s) selected.
The solution(s) will allow successful intervention on the subsea assets first time, reduce vessel OPEX, increase equipment reliability and result in no loss of production due to inability to intervene.
